Our school always attaches importance to the quality of postgraduate training. For many years, we have been trying hard to improve training mechanisms and create a strong academic tradition. We also implement the principle of linking theory with practice, and take the educational model of combining theoretical learning with scientific research, integrating curricular teaching into extracurricular practice, in order to train highly talented people in business with an international vision and a good capacity for academic innovation.

The School of Business now has 254 full-time graduate students, in four majors – Applied Economics, Business Administration, Management Science and Engineering and Logistics Engineering.

Applied Economics

The major of "Applied Economics" obtained in 2011 the right to grant masters' degrees in a first-level discipline, which included three second-level disciplines: International Trade, Finance and Regional Economics. In the long-term construction and development of a discipline, the major of Applied Economics, drawing on data from the Food Safety Research Base of Jiangsu Province, the Chinese Networking Development Strategy Research Base, the Wuxi Tourism and Regional Economic Development Research Base and a training base for doctors in the field of food retailing and culture, coordinates its development with two first-level disciplines of a master’s degree: Business Administration and Management Science and Engineering. It has thus set up a disciplinary system with local characteristics and professional advantages.

Business Administration

The major of "Business Administration" obtained the right in 2003 to grant postgraduate masters’ degrees in a second-level discipline. Since 2004, it has begun to recruit graduate students. In 2006, the subject was classified as one of the key disciplines of Jiangnan University. In 2010, on the basis of "Enterprise Management", the school won the right to grant masters’ degrees in "Business Administration" as a first-level discipline. Currently, the first-level discipline has four research directions: "Enterprise Management", "Technical Economics and Management", "Tourism Management" and "Accounting". In 2014, "Business Administration" was nominated as a key training subject among Jiangnan University’s doctoral programs.

Management Science and Engineering

In 2006 the major of "Management Science and Engineering" obtained the right to grant masters’ degrees as a first-level discipline, including the research directions of Industrial Engineering and Logistics, Environment and Resource Management, Quality Management and Applied Statistics, Financial Management and Engineering and so on, with "Management Science and Engineering" as the program for first-level masters’ degrees. This major has a teaching staff which has shown outstanding academic performance; there are altogether five professors, eight associate professors, more than 50 percent of whom have doctorates. In the past three years, this team has published more than 200 papers in domestic core journals.

Logistics Engineering

The major of "Logistics Engineering" obtained the right to grant full-time professional master's degree in 2011, including the research directions of Enterprise Logistics Management and Operations, Logistics System Planning and Design, Supply Chain Management, and Logistics Industrial Planning. It focuses on training high-level applied and specialized talents with a grasp of solid basic theory and extensive expertise in the field of Logistics Engineering, a well-developed ability to solve practical problems, a capacity for logistics engineering expertise or management work and all-round professional qualifications.
