The Research Institute for the Management and Development of Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises (RIMD-SME) was jointly established by Jiangnan University and Institute of Industrial Economics of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. Professor Pu Xujin, Deputy Director of Social Sciences Department of Jiangnan University and a talent of NCET (Supported by Program for New Century Excellent Talents in University), is the director of the Institute and Professor Zhu Weiping is the chief expert.

I. Development Goal

In view of the prominent problems faced by Chinese SMEs in the transitional period, taking the development environment of SMEs in the information era as the research background and the major theoretical and practical issues concerning the development of SMEs in China as the objective, RIMD-SME closely combines institutional, management and cultural innovations to explore the path that suits China's SMEs, the law of growth and environmental support system for SMEs, providing comprehensive consultancy for SMEs and think tank support to government of all levels.

SME Management Innovation in the Information Age: To comprehensively explore the SME management innovation system, focusing on the impact of concept, system, organizational and management innovations on the development of SMEs, and explore SME management model and development strategy suitable for the Internet age.

2. High-tech Zone Development and SME Cluster in China: Reveal the formation and development track of china's high-tech zones, analyze the characteristics of SME cluster development, study the relationship between economic development and SME cluster in new era, design development strategy for SMEs in the economy of high-tech zones.

3. Sharing Economy and Platform Economic Development: Analyzing the current situation and future development trend of Internet sharing economy, interpreting the representative sharing economy model, guiding enterprises to grasp the pulse of the times, seize the opportunity and use Internet sharing-economy to reconstruct a new model for enterprise development.
